Dear Parents and Carers,

From Monday 1st June, the Government have asked for all Secondary Schools to offer some face to face support before the Summer to supplement the remote learning of those pupils in Year 10 and Year 12.

The school has carried out all of the necessary risk assessments, in line with DfE guidance, and protocols will be put in place to ensure the safety of all students and staff during this period. Full details of these protocols will be communicated with parents, students and staff before wider opening commences.

Attendance is not compulsory and parents will need to make their own decision, given their personal circumstances, as to whether or not their child will return.

To support parents with this decision, please find below an outline of some key information followed by a link to a quick survey that we ask you to complete to allow us to have all the information we require to plan for your child’s safe return.

  • Your child will not be in school full time and will continue to be set work to complete at home. Students will attend school for no more than 2-3 hours on any one occasion.
  • Parents will need to make arrangements for transporting their child to school. There will be no school bus service available.
  • During the first week, we will meet with your child in small groups (max 15) to identify any additional support they may require to support their learning at home. During this session, we will determine any barriers they are facing with the remote learning, identify subject specific concerns and most importantly consider their mental health and well-being needs so they are ready to learn.
  • Social distancing guidelines will be adhered to in all classrooms and around site.
  • The classes/groups will be determined by the school and each group will be allocated a staggered start time to minimise congestion and contact between different student groups. Students will not be allowed on site until their allocated start time.
  • After week one, your child will be invited to attend a series of sessions, where subject specialists will assess where they are in their learning so they can make any changes to the remote tasks set and discuss any work which they will be required to complete before September.
  • Any work covered in school will also be available on Show My Homework for all pupils to access.
  • As students will only be asked to attend for short periods of time, no social times e.g. breaks and mealtimes, will be provided. This will minimise the chance of peer to peer contact.
  • The provisions and arrangements in place for the children of critical workers and students with additional needs will remain the same. Any year 10 children in these groups will be offered the same face to face support as their peers.

Please follow the link below to provide us with the information we require to support your child. If you have more than one child please complete a survey for each child.

All surveys must be completed by this THURSDAY 21st May 2020 at 3pm
