11th June Email To Parents

Dear Parent/Carer,

I hope this email finds you and your families well.

I am aware that this remains a very difficult time for families and the fact that children will not return to school until September at the earliest for most year groups is causing concern.  As a school we will continue to work within the guidelines we are given to provide the necessary support to you.  Clearly, we will not be able to fulfil all requests but it is important that you raise any issues or concerns with the relevant members of staff at school.

There are a few updates for you this week:

Uniform Dates
Our uniform supplier Gogna has confirmed that they will be attending Netherthorpe on the following dates and times:

•    24th July:      12pm to 7pm
•    13th August:  12pm to 7pm
•    20th August:  9am to 3pm (6th Form Only)

An appointment system will be put in place in order to fulfil social distancing requirements.  More information will be sent to you in due course.

Employability Skills
A range of resources have been placed onto Show My Homework in relation to employability.  This is due to having to cancel work experience.  If there are any issues with this, please contact Mrs Cracknell.

Wider Re-opening to Year 10 and Year 12
Parents who have requested places for the wider re-opening should have now received information through the post.  If this is not the case, can you please contact the school.  Additional information will be sent out at the end of the week in relation to 'Frequently Asked Questions', so that hopefully the students can be as fully prepared as possible.

It is important to remember that we are limited to the number of students  allowed on site in any one day and this is 49 for Year 10 and 37 for Year 12,  These numbers have been set by the Government, who have determined we can only have 25% of each year group on site.

If you have not yet requested a place, all information in relation to the re-opening is on the school website.  It is important to remember it is not compulsory to return and every family must make a decision based on their individual circumstances.

Information for Parents - Remote Teaching and Learning
Attached is a document in relation to 'Remote Teaching and Learning'.  This is based on the latest research we have received and has been put together by Mrs McVicar, who leads the teaching and learning network for Derbyshire.  It is very difficult to match the needs of every individual learner in the current situation and the work that is being placed onto Show My Homework is being quality assured.

Finally, as the country starts to slowly come out of the lockdown, it is important that we continue to impress on our children the need to continue to follow the social distancing rules.  Unfortunately, we have been made aware that there are groups of young people starting to congregate around the Chesterfield area, who are not following the guidance given.  Please discuss this with your children as necessary.

Please take care of yourself and if there is anything the school can do to support you, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Best wishes

Dave
