Platinum Jubilee Celebrations
To mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, we celebrated by hosting a ‘Netherthorpe Garden Party’. Despite the wind, the sun shined and saw students enjoy a picnic lunch together on our school field. The winner of our House Competition: ‘A Meal Fit for a Queen’ selected by Head teacher Helen McVicar, was Year 7 Thomas F’s ‘Beef Stroganoff’ which served as the main meal in the Canteen. This was accompanied by some musical talent, seeing performances from ex-student – Macey Lamb who is studying at Stageworks College in Cambridge, as well as the African Drummers and a solo piano performance from Year 7 Isla C. Their musical pieces attracted crowds of students and staff to come together in celebration. Giant Jenga, Boules and Croquet brought out the competitive side in some of our students. Adding to the festivities was our ‘Regal’ photo opportunity where students enjoyed posing (and pouting) for the occasion. A good time was had by all!
