Netherthorpes First whole School Careers Fair
The Personal Development Team organised Netherthorpe School’s first whole-school Careers Fair on Thursday 7th November. This was a key opportunity for our students to ‘hit’ the national Gatsby career benchmarks. The event hosted over 40 employers, organisations, universities and charities in a marketplace setting in our Sports Hall. Each year group had the opportunity to circulate and network, asking providers about study, job and volunteering opportunities. If students were lost for words, we had some discussion prompts on hand to support them. Throughout the day there was a real ‘buzz’ at the event and students should be commended for how they represented the school. Following a conversation, one employer said that: ‘if his company had a junior sales position he would have employed one of the students he spoke to due to the enthusiasm and positive first impression made’. Feedback like this puts into perspective how lucky we are to have such brilliant students who are an asset to themselves and our school.
