Welcome to Netherthorpe Sixth Form
As one of the most popular Sixth Forms in our region, it is a pleasure to welcome you to Netherthorpe School’s Sixth Form. Our aim is to provide you with high quality teaching and excellent learning facilities, support you to enjoy your studies in order to strengthen learning and maximise your potential to succeed.
We offer a wide ranging curriculum, new and historical facilities across the site that aid both taught lessons and personal study and we enjoy a good working relationship between our staff and students.
“Students felt that relationships were good between tutors and students”
Each year we seek to offer an inclusive curriculum, which you can see in our prospectus or for an overview you can look at the curriculum pages of the website. All our routes into Sixth Form and the application process are published in our prospectus that we launch on our Open evening in November.
This year’s open evening is Thursday 21st November.
If you are looking for information regarding the Sixth Form, how your time at Sixth Form may pan out and parental information then please check out our General information section. We would also advise that the schools SEND Department supports Sixth Formers as well as other students in the school, if you have a query regarding supporting you at Sixth Form – please do not hesitate to get in touch.
The Sixth Form does follow the school day, with certain privileges awarded to Sixth Formers, including the use of Sixth Form Café, Study Facilities, IT access, Specialist study rooms, Gym and more.
Keeping everyone up-to-date remains important us and this will continue through letters home when required and the website however, increasingly the twitter feeds @netherthorpesch and @netherthorpe6fm, the facebook page, show my homework announcements and school e-mail are being used to provide students information quickly.
We are here to help you with your ambitions there are now more options for students beyond the Sixth Form (“Post-18”) than there has been for some time and you find useful information to all this at our University, Apprenticeships and Careers section.
We hope that you find the website information useful, whilst applying to join us, whilst here and of course afterwards with our Alumni. The site is designed to help you have key documents to hand and point out what is needed in order for students, parents and guardians to make the most from the Sixth Form.
