2nd June Email update

I hope this email finds you and your families well.  A few updates for you this week:

Partial Reopening for Year 10 and Year 12

I emailed parents of Year 10 and Year 12 last week in relation to the Government guidelines we have been given to the partial reopening of the school for these year groups from 15th June.  The preparations are going well and we should be in a position to send out information through the post to the parents who have requested a place early next week.  This will identify which ‘pod’ your child is in and when they should attend.  If you do not receive this by Thursday 11th June, please contact the school reception.

Information in regards to the phased reopening will also be placed on the school website, so that all parents in these years groups will know what the provision is being put in place.

Years 7, 8 and 9

It is not expected that these year groups will be returning to school before the summer holiday.  We are therefore asking staff to review the work that is being placed on show my homework in order to support these year groups.  I understand how difficult this is for these children, but as a school we are having to follow the Government advice in relation to this.

We will ensure that on their return, we will put provision in place to not only support their academic progress but also their health and well-being.

Information for Current Year 9 Regarding English Literature

During the options process, information was passed to parents and students about sitting GCSE English Literature at the end of Year 10.  Given the current situation, some parents have raised concerns about this as the whether their child would be ready to sit their GCSE.  A decision has been made that there will be no early entry for any GCSE subjects for Year 10 moving forward.

Free School Meal Vouchers

The next round of vouchers have been distributed to parents.  It is important that parents check their ‘junk’ email for these.  If there are any issues, please do not hesitate to contact reception.

School Uniform

We are currently working with our uniform supplier Gogna to put some provision in place for parents to buy uniform for the next academic year.  It is hoped that this will include some days during the summer holiday but also via online.  Clearly, we will have to put procedures in place for this to happen safely and we will be in touch in due course about this.

Finally, thank you once again for your continued support.

Best wishes

Dave
